A fine pair of early 20th century Dutch silver-mounted etched glass decanters, each with bulb-form stoppers, pastoral silver mounts, and elegant vine-etched decoration. Hallmarked with Dutch Silver II lion mark and partial maker’s initials.
This elegant pair of Dutch decanters represents the refined artistry of early 20th century European decorative tableware. Each decanter is crafted from clear glass, etched with scrolling vine and foliate motifs, and further embellished with repoussé and chased silver mounts. The mounts feature charming pastoral village scenes with figures, architecture, and scrolling floral borders, all executed with crisp detail. The tall necks are banded with silver sleeves, decorated in repoussé with rococo-inspired scrolls and figural scenes, supporting the rounded glass stoppers.
The bases are octagonal in form, mounted with silver bands of scrolling arabesques and rustic landscapes, providing a strong contrast against the clarity of the glass. The underside of each decanter bears Dutch Silver II hallmarks (lion mark for 835 silver purity, in use 1906–1953), along with partial, illegible maker’s initials “(?) C.”
These decanters would have originally been used for fine spirits or wine, but today they stand as highly decorative objects suitable for collectors of Dutch silver and Continental barware.
