Dated 1853, the stand exemplifies mid-19th-century British silver design, with rich scrolling Rococo ornamentation, shaped edges, and raised feet.
The stand is fitted with multiple inkwell compartments, including a central glass inkwell and side glass wells, all housed within silver mounts. The underside, lids, and collar of the central inkwell are fully hallmarked, confirming authenticity and period.
Signs of age-related wear are present, including surface marks, minor bending to lid edges, and small chips to the glass wells. These do not detract from the overall presence and historical integrity of the piece, which remains an impressive example of Victorian desk silver.
