A pair of large Viennese Rococo silver centerpieces by Franz Brothers, ca. 1900, each featuring a sculpted cherub supporting an ornate bowl with pierced and scrollwork detailing. Hallmarked and richly decorated throughout.
A magnificent pair of Viennese silver table centerpieces crafted by the Franz Brothers (Rudolf & Eduard Franz), active from 1887 and renowned for their exceptional Rococo-revival silverwork. Each piece rises from an elaborate circular base richly decorated with swirling shell motifs, pierced rocaille grilles, and animated cartouches.
The stem of each centerpiece is formed as a fully sculpted cherub, beautifully modelled in the round, supporting a large, projecting bowl. The bowls feature elegant openwork panels, lively Rococo scrolls, and a finely contoured rim characteristic of late 19th-century Viennese craftsmanship.
Marked with the official Vienna inspection hallmark and the Franz Brothers maker’s mark, these centerpieces represent the height of turn-of-the-century Austro-Hungarian silver artistry.
