A highly decorative late 19th-century Viennese silver, enamel, and gemstone-mounted table clock, masterfully crafted in Vienna. The clock case is designed as a snail with a rock crystal shell, symbolizing rarity and precision, and features a finely worked silver dial with enamel Roman numerals. The watch-type movement is attributed to Anton Hiebner, a known Viennese horologist.

The case rests on a rich lapis lazuli base, bordered with delicate enamel foliate decoration in vivid polychrome tones. The snail is harnessed to a pair of elaborately modeled hippocamps adorned with seed pearls, with Triton positioned between them, holding the reins. Each hippocamp displays red gemstone eyes, enhancing the luxurious finish.

The base bears Austrian control marks for 1902–1921 and French import control marks for 1893, attesting to its authenticity and international appreciation.

A prime example of the Viennese tradition of luxurious objet d’art, this clock combines rock crystal, lapis lazuli, pearls, enamel, and silverwork to create a striking display of opulence and craftsmanship.
