This impressive Victorian sterling silver epergne, crafted in London in 1896 by Charles Stuart Harris, is a substantial and highly decorative centerpiece set, combining refined silversmithing with aristocratic provenance.

The central element is a large oval pierced basket, richly decorated with husk borders, scrolling foliage, and applied swag and bow ornamentation. Oval medallions adorn the body, two featuring classical urn motifs, one left vacant, and one engraved with a family crest.

Extending from the main body are four scrolling branches, each supporting conforming oval baskets, creating a balanced and architecturally composed display. The structure is raised on four foliate scroll and pad feet, reinforcing its stability and grandeur.

Accompanying the epergne are six matching dessert baskets, maintaining the same decorative language and craftsmanship. The set includes eleven blue glass liners, which enhance both the aesthetic contrast and functionality.

The engraved crest belongs to the Wilson family, later known as the Maryon-Wilson family of Eastbourne, Baronets—a lineage dating back to the 17th century. This historical association adds significant collectible interest.

The set is further supported by notable provenance, having been sold at Sotheby’s London in “The Ballyedmond Collection” (23 May 2017, Lot 412), confirming its standing within a curated and respected collection.

This is a complete and highly decorative Victorian table centerpiece set, combining scale, craftsmanship, and provenance—key factors for serious collectors.
