A Viennese silver and enamel table clock by Hermann Böhm, Vienna, c.1890. The ovoid case with enamel dial and mythological scenes, surmounted by an eagle, raised on a bird-form support and circular base with putti feet.
A finely crafted late 19th-century Austrian silver and enamel table clock, attributed to the renowned Viennese maker Hermann Böhm (Vienna, c.1890). The clock is housed in an ovoid case richly decorated with polychrome enamel panels and supported on a sculptural base with winged putti feet.
The clock face is adorned with a vibrant champlevé enamel dial, painted in shades of blue and turquoise, highlighted with intricate floral motifs and gilt detailing. Roman numerals encircle a central enamel rosette, framed by scrolling foliate patterns. The reverse of the case features a hand-painted enamel panel depicting a mythological/classical scene, rendered in vivid colors with exceptional artistry.
The entire piece is surmounted by a silver eagle with spread wings, symbolizing strength and triumph, perched above the clock case. The sculptural support beneath the case is formed as a bird in full relief, adding dimension and elegance. The circular plinth base is decorated with finely painted enamel medallions of allegorical and classical figures, surrounded by dark enamel grounds enriched with applied gilt motifs and mounted with sculptural masks.
